Many association events run on the same few volunteers. A calendar that depends on them is a calendar that eventually thins out. Here is how boards keep a community eventful without asking the same people to do more.
Short answer
Keep an HOA or condo community eventful by spreading the load. Mix simple resident-led events, a few anchor events planned by the board or social committee, and brand-funded activations through hoastnow, where a brand designs and runs an event for residents. The committee stays small, residents keep getting reasons to gather, and the association can earn instead of spend.
hoastnow is a marketplace connecting brands with managed residential communities for exclusive, resident-only activations. For HOA and condo boards and the social committees that run their events, it is a way to add programming to the calendar without adding to anyone's workload.
Why event calendars run out of steam
Planning, buying, setting up, and cleaning up after an event all land on a small group of residents who also have jobs, families, and their own weekends. When that group gets tired, the calendar thins, and residents notice the quiet. The Foundation for Community Association Research's 2026 report links community activities to stronger feelings of belonging, greater well-being, and overall satisfaction.

Residents value the connection, but the demand for it can be broader than the pool of residents willing to organize it. That gap is where event calendars break down.
Build a calendar that does not depend on one group
A more sustainable approach is to stop asking one committee to carry everything. Split the calendar into layers that need different amounts of effort.
Resident-led
Book clubs, walking groups, and game nights hosted by residents who already want to run them. Low effort, frequent, and rooted in what neighbors actually enjoy.
Anchor events
A small number of larger gatherings a year, planned by the board or committee, such as a holiday event or community day. Kept to a handful so they stay special.
Brand-hosted
Tastings, wellness sessions, and lifestyle events designed and run by a brand through hoastnow. The association approves each request and the committee does not plan it.
What brand-hosted events add
A brand books an amenity space through hoastnow to host an exclusive event for a defined resident audience. The brand designs and runs it. The association reviews and approves each request on its own terms and earns for hosting it. Residents get a curated experience in their own community, and the volunteers who would normally carry it get a night off.
That is mutual value, not a handout: residents get something worth showing up for, the brand gets direct access to people who actually live there, and the association gets programming it did not have to build.
A community stays eventful when no single group has to carry the whole calendar.
It does not replace the events that make a community feel like its own, the potluck, the holiday party, the neighbor-hosted group. Those stay resident-led. Income and availability depend on brand bookings, so not every month will have a brand-hosted event.
How to start
Pick one or two months to test. List an amenity space on hoastnow, set availability around resident use, and review requests the way the board would any vendor agreement. Then ask residents which events they want more of, and track attendance next to the calendar so the committee can see what is working.
